Issues and returns
Issues
- Your library card is your Student ID card.
- 15 books may be issued at one time, usually for three weeks.
- Journals/magazines are not issued but can be read in the library.
- Videos and DVDs are not issued but can be viewed in the library.
- If you reserve an item, you will get a letter when the item is available for you to collect.
- Issues can be renewed once (if not reserved) by phone on 07 346 8805 or 0800 924 274.
- Librarians will assist you, but if no staff members are at the desk, ring the bell.
- Two Closed Reserve items can be booked in advance. More can be taken at the end of the day.
- Closed Reserve items can be issued from 1:00 pm and must be returned on the due date before 9:00 am.
Returns or renewing items
- Your books need to be received by the library on or before the date stamped on the Date Due Slip
- Issues can be renewed once (if not reserved) by phone on 07 3468805 or 0800 924274.
- Renewals are issued for an extra 3 weeks if no one is waiting.
- Please put books in the returns slot. An after hours return slot is available at the end of the building next to the CTC School offices.
Overdue fines and damaged items
- $1.00 per week (except for Closed Reserve items).
- Fines for Closed Reserve overdues are $1.00 per hour up to $ 5.00 per day.
- If you lose or damage any item, you will be required to pay the replacement cost.
- Students with outstanding library charges will not be eligible to receive their certificates.
Reference Desk
- Ask at the Reference Desk in the open area for assistance to find resources and information on any topics.
Online library catalogue
- The Library catalogue tells you about the items held in the library. The catalogue is available on line at library.waiariki.ac.nz and this means you can use the library catalogue wherever you can access the Internet.

- Assistance to develop learning and academic skills.
- English language support.
- Mentoring support.
- Teaching and assistance with accessing and evaluating information in various formats – printed and electronic.
- IT, computer and AV support.
- Reference assistance.
- Provision of library resources to regional and distance students.
- Interloans – borrowing from other libraries.
Facilities provided
- Digital library for accessing electronic resources.
- Video/DVD viewing suites.
- Computer suites with printers.
- Study rooms (individual and group).
- Photocopiers.
- Printing paper.
General guidelines for using the library
- No food or drink (a water sipper is OK).
- No cell phones.
- Only one EXIT – except in case of a fire or emergency. Do not use other doors because they are ALARMED
- Please remember to keep voices low so that other students can study.
- If you need to study in groups, please use the group study rooms.
- Computer access is available only to Waiariki students and staff members.
