Faculty career guides
The Faculty of Applied Technology and Primary Industries offers an array of certificates, diplomas and skill-based programmes in the areas of forestry, primary industries and trades training, delivered from its campuses in Rotorua, Whakatane, Tokoroa, and Taupo. We also provide training in regional satellite locations from Silverdale to Napier.
Hands-on training
We deliver quality hands-on training in well-equipped facilities that replicate realistic work environments. There are opportunities for students to be involved in educational projects, apprenticeships as well as industry experience. They can also gain valuable on-site work experience, such as in Waiariki’s sawmill at the Waipa campus.
Fully-engaged tutors
All of our tutors are qualified and experienced industry professionals who provide not only educational training and practical skills, but also a high level of pastoral care which addresses the needs of each student, enabling him or her to succeed.
Committed to local iwi
As a faculty we are committed to developing closer working relationships with local iwi. We have fostered strong partnerships with community groups and Māori trusts, as well as local iwi and hapu. Māori involvement in Forestry and the primary industries is a major focus.
Work-ready graduates
Our goal is to produce graduates that have the skills and knowledge to be productive from their first day of employment. Employers will gain a fully-trained and confident employee who will already be familiar with the industry and its regulations.
We look forward to hearing from you and discussing your future.
