"What I want to bring out in them is probably that they can achieve things that they have probably been told they are unable to achieve" says Kassandra Kingi (pictured with class, far left), Lecturer of the Certificate in Vocational Skills at Waiariki's Taupo Campus.
"That is my main goal, that they are important. That they are needed in society and that they are a person that can do things."
Kassandra's passion for her students is clear to see. The qualification which aims to give young people who missed out on NCEA Levels 1 and 2 another chance at capturing these essential lifestyle blocks in a more suitable learning environment, has a high success rate in Taupo, where students are retained and inspired right the way through the year.
