Pohiri Held For Waiariki Bay of Plenty Polytechnic

02 May 2016

Today on Mokoia Campus, we held a pohiri at Tangatarua Marae to mark the 'birth' of Waiariki Bay of Plenty Polytechnic.

The Bay of Plenty region reached a significant milestone in its tertiary education history on 1 May 2016 when Bay of Plenty Polytechnic merged with Waiariki Institute of Technology to become the fourth largest ITP in New Zealand.

Waiariki Bay of Plenty Polytechnic is home to almost 14,000 students, more than 1,000 staff and offers more than 240 programmes over 71 delivery sites.

Over the coming years we will build on the successes and histories of our legacy institutions, to deliver our students and our region the educational and employment outcomes they need.

We are committed to working with our businesses, community, industries and iwi partners, to ensure our new institution meets their needs, and most importantly the needs of our students.

With more resources, increased scope, and size our students will have better access to study and a wider choice of programmes. Together we can continue to grow our region and make it the best place in the country to work, live, learn and play.

With change comes growth, and we looking to having you on board as we take learning in the Bay of Plenty to a new level.
