Charter and Profile / Investment Plan 2008 to 2010
The New Zealand Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) requires that all publicly funded tertiary education institutions have an approved Charter and Profile / Investment Plan for the 2008 to 2010 period.
The Charter and Profile / Investment Plan are Waiariki’s documents that will, for the next three years, 2008 to 2010 guide the development and delivery of tertiary education to meet the needs of students, employers, and communities within the Waiariki rohe.
It is also a response to the government’s Tertiary Education Strategy 2007–12 and Statement of Tertiary Education Priorities 2008–10 (TES/STEP).
Investing in a Plan
“Investing in a Plan” is about building a more integrated, effective and efficient Waiariki that makes better use of the government’s investment and ensures delivery of education and training that will underpin the regions economic transformation and social and cultural development.
The Investment Plan represents a significant culture change between the Institute and TEC from the current Charter and Profiles with a move to a high trust, high accountability, and low compliance cost environment.
Key aspects of the Investment Plan are:
- Greater collaboration between Waiariki and tertiary education providers through establishment of networks of education and training provision at regional and niche national levels;
- Engagement between Waiariki and the TEC in the development of this Investment Plan that will fund and drive the development of Waiariki within the network of provision; and
- Robust key performance indicators including self monitoring and quality assurance to protect the government’s investment and to ensure that the educational outcomes are delivered.
