Waiariki Institute of Technology New Zealand Aria
Celebration of Song. The New Zealand Aria competition is one of Australasia’s most prestigious singing competitions. The event, in its current format, has been held annually for the past 14 years.

Bay of Plenty Rugby Union - Steamers
Sponsor Level: Back of Jersey and Match Day sponsor

Waiariki is a proud sponsor of the Steamers becoming a member of the exclusive “Back of Jersey Club “ sponsoring Jersey No. 13 and we were the Match Day sponsor for their first game in Rotorua on 9 August 2008. 
Waiariki is proud to support the Steamers at a national level through the Air New Zealand Cup.
Bay of Plenty Sports Awards
Sponsor Level: Waiariki is the Official Naming Rights sponsor of the event for 2008 and 2010.
Waiariki is the Category sponsor for both the Secondary Sportsman of the Year and the Secondary Sportswoman of the Year in 2009 and 2011.
The sponsorship is being done in partnership with Bay of Plenty Polytechnic.
This is an opportunity for Waiariki to support sporting excellence within the region and to profile the Waiariki Academy of Sport.
New Zealand Aria Competition

The Aria event was established by the Rotorua Competition Society in 1946 and it has become a high profile event of international standing.

Rotorua Wearable Creations ‘n Colour Awards has become one of the events on the Rotorua calendar. A charitable wearable arts style fashion show, the event celebrates the creativity of our communities and helps build the confidence and self-esteem of many people. The awards evening is full of fun and festivity, music and dance, and of course, wonderful and fantastical colour creations.

For the past three years, Waiariki has proudly sponsored the Youth Category. Last year’s winner from this category, ‘Cupcake Delight’, was designed by John Paul College students Angela Fouhy and Kate Oliver of Rotorua.

Rotorua/Taupo Industry Training Graduation Ceremony

The  Mayors of Rotorua and Taupo Districts are members of the Mayors Taskforce for Jobs, a national initiative to encourage employment and training.  The taskforce is at the forefront of promoting industry training to position this sector as a valuable and attractive career choice.
Industry training graduation ceremonies are an important initiative of the Mayors Taskforce for Jobs.  Around the country, these ceremonies are held to recognise the importance of graduates’ qualifications and to raise the profile of trades and industries.
This is a privilege to recognise the commitment, hard work and sacrifice many of our successful trainees have made in getting their qualifications. Their success gives our community confidence that our workforce is well prepared and technically skilled as it moves forward to meet the future.
Spirit of Rotorua Photography Competition

The 106th annual University Games was a very memorable sponsorship in April 2008. Waiariki was the first non-university institute to host and compete in the event, showcasing its hospitality to more than 2,500 athletes and their coaches and support teams who came from all over New Zealand and a few universities from Australia. Waiariki teams even won a few golds!
Western Heights High School Invitational Tournament

Waiariki is a sponsor of this well established sporting tournament, having become involved in 2008. It has very good synergies with the Waiariki Academy of Sport.
From its humblest beginnings in 1994 the WWHS tournament has grown into one of the premier pre-season multi-sport events on the secondary school calendar.  During the past 15 years the tournament has hosted in excess of 30,000 participants and 2000 teams from secondary schools and sporting academies throughout New Zealand and overseas.  The tournament has received a number of awards including winning the Trustpower Spirit of Rotorua and being a finalist in the Rotorua Business Awards.  A recent economic impact report placed the tournament in the top ten sporting events held in Rotorua.
