GOAL 1
Ensure that Waiariki operates within a unique bicultural framework and acknowledges the Treaty of Waitangi through active demonstration of the principles of partnership, participation and protection.
Actions
- Reinforce Waiariki’s support of the principles of partnership, protection and participation through active demonstration in activities.
- Provide learning experiences which enable graduates to be cross-culturally sensitive, inter-culturally competent and internationally knowledgeable
- Prioritise exploring more diverse cultural curricula, inclusive methods of teaching, and innovative access and retention strategies.
- Provide niche curricula in cultural heritage with a strong kaupapa that reflect and customise provision to the unique Waiariki regional communities.
- Provide a defined welcoming and ongoing bicultural experience for all students.
- Align ethnic staff profile through application of Equal Employment Opportunities principles and bicultural kaupapa.

Manage external engagement and lead the Regional Facilitation process
Actions
- Continue effective regional engagement that leads to enhanced shared understanding of needs and priorities and adoption of the annual Regional Statement by the region’s stakeholders
- Assume a leading role in the establishment of regional and national niche business, social and economic clusters;
- Develop and strengthen stakeholder relationships and partnership agreements to become the preferred provider of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in the region.
- Support and participate in the strategic planning processes of regional and Iwi authorities, Hapu and community organisations.

- Develop collaborative partnerships with iwi to increase engagement of Māori.
- Increase the number and quality of international students both onshore and offshore.
- Implement processes to identify key risks and uncertainty as part of the critical success factor evaluation for MOU, agreements and articulations.
- Manage opportunity and risk through developing a coordinated mix of countries, economies, currencies, and courses.
