GOAL 4
Deliver high quality applied technical and vocational education and training (TVET) which meets or exceeds the expectations and requirements of Waiariki’s stakeholders and is underpinned by continuous quality improvement.

Actions

  • Regularly research, review and redevelop curriculum, modes of delivery and assessment practices to be responsive to student, community and professional needs.
  • Benchmark the quality management system and related academic quality improvement activities which celebrate and promote best practice.
  • Focus human resource management practices to attract, retain, develop and reward staff of the highest calibre.
  • Increase the internationalisation of Waiariki courses in line with the Education New Zealand (ENZ) International Education Agenda, including international staircases for students.

  • Rite tonu te rangahau, te ātā titiro me te hānganga i te marautanga, ngā mōmō whakapūakitanga me ngā ritenga tirohanga, kia anga ai ki te hāpori akonga, me ngā hiahia pūkenga.
  • Whakatauiratia te pūnaha whakahāere painga me ngā ngangahau mātauranga pai ake, hei whakanuitia ai hei whakarangatira ai, ngā ritenga pai rawa atu.
  • Whakahāngaitia ngā ritenga whakahāere aro tāngata, kia whakamanea ai, kia whakawhānakengia ai, kia whakautua ai, ngā kaimahi kua eke ki te taumata ikeike

GOAL 5
Build a reputation for the quality of Waiariki’s work-ready graduates and the quality of the innovative qualifications offered

Actions

  • Ensure all qualifications have vocationally aligned outcomes that match industry requirements.
  • Increase the number of qualifications that incorporate industry-based courses, work experience or industry projects.
  • Increase partnerships with industry to enhance opportunities for staff and student experience of current and emerging work place requirements.
  • Staff attendance and participation at international forums that address international trends in technical and vocational education and training.
  • Encourage and support applied research related to the key educational disciplines defined by the region.
  • Offer opportunity for Waiariki students to gain experience through greater collaboration with TVET institutions worldwide.

  • Te tāenga mai o ngā kaimahi me te whai wāhi i ngā wānanga a taiāo kia kōrerotia ai ngā tikanga a taiāo, i
    roto i ngā mātauranga toi, mātauuranga mahi, me te whakangūngūtanga.

GOAL 6
Increase Maori participation, retention, success and progression at all levels.

Actions:

  • Provide quality teaching and support that meets the specific needs of Māori students.
  • Support staff to develop the skills necessary to meet the specific needs of Māori students.
  • Develop qualifications at levels 5-7 that match with Māori aspirations.
  • Include elective options in qualifications that allow students in all subject areas to develop knowledge of Māori culture and language and governance practices.

Tohenga Tuaono
Whakarahingia te whai wāhi, te pūpuritanga, te angitū me te hāere whakamua o ngā tāngata Māori i ngātaumata katoa.

Ngā Mahi

  • Whakaratongia whakaako painga me te tautoko, kia tūtaki ai ngā hiahia ake o ngā akonga Māori.
  • Tautokongia ngā kaimahi, kia whakawhānake ai ngā pūkenga, e tino āhei ana kia tūtaki ai ngā hiahia ake o ngā akonga Māori.
  • Whakawhānakengia ngā tohu i ngā taumata rima ki te whitu, e tūhono ana ki ngā tūmanako Māori.
  • Whakaurutia ngā kōwhiringa i roto i ngā tohu, kia whakaāe ai ngā akonga i roto i ngā wā kaupapa katoa, kia whakawhānake ai te mōhiotanga i te Reo Māori me ōna tikanga, me ngā ritenga whakahāere tikanga.
