Taupo

Taupo features as one of New Zealand’s favourite holiday destinations. The township borders the northern shoreline of Lake Taupo, New Zealand’s largest lake.
The lucky residents who live in the area are proud of the natural beauty of the region. They enjoy the thermal wonders of Orakei Korako in the north and the stunning mountain views of Tongariro National Park which take centre stage to the south.
The region provides visitors and residents easy access to participate in the outdoors. Just about every activity is available in the area, from high adventure to spending a day on the lake to a gentle game of golf on one of five courses.
Taupo is centrally located in the North Island, making it easy to drive to the larger cities of Auckland and Hamilton. This accessibility to other centres, along with the stunning scenery, has encouraged Taupo’s claim to be the events capital of New Zealand.
Taupo can offer the vibrancy of national and international events, a busy cafe and restaurant scene, and a wonderful choice of shops and local amenities. In contrast, if it is peace and quiet you want then you don’t need to go far to find that in Taupo as well.
