    Diploma in Interior Design
    Inspired Interiors by Donna Morrison

After 15 years of working as a managerial assistant, Donna Morrison recently completed, at the top of her class, the Certificate in Interior Design at Waiariki Institute of Technology in Rotorua.

“Interior design is my passion. I have a natural understanding of colour and principles of design; it is my talent. I have always dreamt of getting a formal grounding to offer that talent and knowledge to clients.

“The Waiariki programme was comprehensive and interesting with the added bonus of being surrounded by many other creative minds. I went into the programme knowing what my goal was, and Waiariki has assisted me in making my dream a reality. I am looking forward to sharing my design ideas and passion with my clients.”

How can hiring an interior designer make a project a success? “Interior designers have the ability to see the potential of a space, visualise an idea and make it happen. Designers can assist with the simplest of jobs, like advice on how to place existing furniture into a room, to full redecorating concepts and home renovations. Designers know what innovative and cost effective products are available and are often good problem solvers and able to think on their feet. Designers are generally great organisers and therefore make great project managers.”

Do I have a personal design style?
“My style is contemporary, clean, uncluttered, and inviting. I like rooms to feel relaxed and peaceful.”

Do you have a design philosophy?
“My design philosophy is to help inspire clients create changes to rooms that suit them, and their lifestyle. My job is to assist them to discover what they want and need and design concepts that exceed their expectations, all within their specified budget; and working within a client’s budget is very important. My philosophy is to offer my expertise and save you time.”
