STAR Courses Explained
STAR: Secondary Tertiary Alignment Resource
STAR's main purpose is to assist senior secondary school students in finding suitable pathways into work or further study at secondary or tertiary level. Secondary schools apply for STAR funding annually on an EFTS basis. The funding allocated to the school is managed by a designated STAR coordinator.

The Waiariki Pathways to Success 2008 (a guide to STAR and Gateway) is the publication which details the many models of partnerships and alignments available to secondary schools.
How does it work?
STAR enables secondary schools to purchase a range of courses which extend upon the secondary curriculum and can enhance students' individual learning plans.
Formal partnerships are being extended to secondary schools wishing to deliver Waiariki courses and assessment on-site with an approved teacher.
