Located: M Block (next to WITSA)
Hours: Mon-Friday 8.30am-4.00pm (reduced services during term breaks)

Services are provided to support you in your study goals, and are free as well as confidential.

Nursing service
Is drop in and in some cases by appointment and includes:

  • Minor injury and wound treatment
  • Health screening and monitoring
  • Support with medical disability or condition, quiet space for rest available
  • Illness assessment and advice
  • Sexual health services
  • Cervical Screening
  • Emergency care for accidents/illness occuring on campus
  • Information about local dentists, doctors and community support agencies.
  • Smoking cessation support
  • Nursing support for regular doctors clinics
  • Quiet rest/sickbay area with shower facilities available
  • Support to ensure a healthy safe learning environment
  • Ergonomic comfort advice(computers, carrying heavy bags)

Counselling

Home, work and study can create real challenges, but talking it over can help turn big hurdles into manageable steps. Don't wait until problems get on top of you, make an appointment to see our counsellor.

Disability Support

Disability support service for any students with a disability. Support could include mobility(ensuring easy access around campus), technical support(dictaphones, software) note taker/reader writer for assessments, learning support referral, nursing support(asthma, diabetes, heart disease).

Smoke-Free Environment Policy

Waiariki Institute of Technology shall:

  • Promote the health and well-being of people on all Waiariki campuses, and sites of education and training delivery;
  • Provide protection from tobacco smoke, except in the areas designated for smoking which will be identified and sign-posted on all campuses; and
  • Meet the requirements of the Smoke-Free Environments Act 1990.

Complaints relating to smoking on campus are to be lodged as per the appropriate Waiariki complaints procedure. Students shall contact the Complaints Officer; staff shall contact Human Resources.
