Course Aim

The aim of this course is to provide students with the skills and knowledge to be able to remove, replace and modify automotive exhaust systems, use oxy-acetylene gas welding equipment, and carry out general engineering tasks following motor and related industry procedures.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. identify emergency procedures in the motor and related industries;
  2. remove and replace a vehicle exhaust system and fit an after-market muffler;
  3. remove, repair and/or replace a vehicle and/or machine exhaust system;
  4. demonstrate knowledge of an oxy-acetylene welding plant in the motor industry;
  5. use an oxy-acetylene welding plant in the motor industry; and
  6. use informed judgement to carry out general engineering tasks in the motor industry.
