Course Aim

Provide students with the skills and knowledge to perform facial electrotherapy treatments. Students will gain experience in detailed skin analysis, anatomy and physiology of the head, neck and shoulders, products, tools, equipment and techniques used for facial electrotherapy treatments, client consultation and care, and after-care advice.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. describe and explain the structure, systems, functions, diseases and disorders of the skin, face, neck and shoulders in relation to facial electrotherapy treatments;
  2. demonstrate knowledge of facial electrotherapy treatments including electrical currents, different techniques used, products, tools, equipment, treatment preparation and safe working practices;
  3. understand and perform detailed skin analysis and relevant tests;
  4. undertake client consultation for facial electrotherapy treatments and provide clear recommendations to clients;
  5. select products, tools and equipment to suit client treatment needs, skin types and conditions;
  6. provide facial electrotherapy treatments using a range of techniques, tools, equipment and products;
  7. provide after-care advice to clients using effective communication skills;
  8. record and maintain client details for facial electrotherapy treatments; and
  9. evaluate the effectiveness of facial electrotherapy treatments provided.
