Course Aim

Develop knowledge and skills to perform a range of hair removal treatments. Gain experience in anatomy and physiology of the hair and skin, skin tests, waxing and threading techniques, products, tools and equipment, client consultation and after-care advice.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. describe and explain the body structure, systems, functions, diseases and disorders in relation to hair removal treatments using writing and verbal skills;
  2. demonstrate knowledge of different hair removal techniques, including waxing and threading, using writing and verbal skills;
  3. demonstrate knowledge of products, tools, equipment and safe working practices used for hair removal treatments, including reading and interpreting manufacturers’ instructions;
  4. undertake client consultation for hair removal treatments and provide clear recommendations to clients;
  5. perform and interpret skin tests prior to hair removal treatments and record test results;
  6. provide hair removal treatments;
  7. provide after-care advice to clients using effective communication skills; and
  8. record and maintain client details for hair removal treatments.
