Course Aim

This course will provide students with the knowledge and skills to effectively prepare and deliver an informative talk and social speech to a specified audience, using desktop presentation software as a presentation aid. Students will also be able to take accurate notes and produce the minutes for a formal meeting, effectively use the telephone as a means of communication with customers and prepare and present a set of oral instructions relevant to the business environment.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  1. record and write up minutes of a formal meeting;
  2. communicate effectively with customers to analyse their needs, identify options and answer them in writing;
  3. prepare and deliver a speech for a specified audience using a presentation application to enhance delivery; and
  4. give verbal instructions in a business environment.
