Course Aim

The aim of this course is for students to demonstrate an understanding and critical awareness of the theoretical principles underlying accounting practice including regulatory and technical aspects of financial accounting and external reporting for for-profit entities.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  1. describe the regulatory environment for financial reporting in Australia and New Zealand;
  2. apply the theoretical principles underlying accounting practice;
  3. prepare, explain and analyse financial reports for profit entities, in accordance with generally accepted accounting practice; and
  4. critically evaluate national and international contemporary developments in financial reporting
