The aim of this course is to provide students with the skills and knowledge required to understand and apply a range of theoretical and practical carpentry skills to install exterior wall cladding systems and exterior joinery in a safe and professional manner.
On successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Evaluate and compare the types and methods of installation for exterior wall cladding systems, and demonstrate knowledge of weather tightness requirements.
- Demonstrate knowledge of exterior joinery installation and weather tightness requirements.
- Read and interpret plans, working drawings and specifications to calculate quantities and costs, and prepare an order for a range of exterior wall claddings.
- Install building wrap, a cavity system, exterior wall claddings, joinery and flashings in accordance with NZS:3604 and the NZBC E2 External Moisture codes.
