This course provides students with the knowledge and skills to examine the principles and practise of writing technical text, as relevant to nonfiction in a variety of forms, how-to publications, handbooks and leaflets.
On successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Organise and write or rewrite source material appropriately to different levels/ages of comprehension
- Apply general principles of clear and correct writing to the writing of technical text.
- Analyse the importance of a book proposal in relation to a technical or how-to book;
- Design and develop information, how-to and service brochures (with a focus on appropriate text, not design except in regard to how design affects readability and comprehension).
