This course provides students with a broad range of knowledge relevant to the writing of stories for children. Students will learn to discuss and apply a variety of writing techniques that lead to the writing of age-appropriate stories in regard to both language and content.
On successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- identify and compare the different reading levels and explain their importance when writing for children;
- analyse the difference between various forms of children’s writing;
- apply the principles of writing for children; and
- develop stories for children to a publishable standard.
