Course Aim

The aim of this course is to give students an understanding of practice based research by providing an opportunity for students to advance their skills and knowledge of research in a professional setting. This course has a practical element to it where students will apply their knowledge, skills and understandings in a professional setting. The student will choose an issue relevant to the profession and under the guidance of a research supervisor research this issue based on the research proposal developed in GENR.7026.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  1. implement and manage a practice-based research project in a professional environment according to the approved research proposal;
  2. report the research project via a written research report that includes such components as literature review, methods,  findings/results, discussions, implications for practice, limitations; and
  3. communicate the project to peers and stakeholders via a professional academic presentation.
