The aim of this course is to give students an understanding of practice based research by providing an opportunity for students to advance their skills and knowledge of research in a professional setting. This course has a practical element to it where students will apply their knowledge, skills and understandings in a professional setting. The student will choose an issue relevant to the profession and under the guidance of a research supervisor research this issue based on the research proposal developed in GENR.7026.
On successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- implement and manage a practice-based research project in a professional environment according to the approved research proposal;
- report the research project via a written research report that includes such components as literature review, methods, findings/results, discussions, implications for practice, limitations; and
- communicate the project to peers and stakeholders via a professional academic presentation.
