Course Aim

Students will develop ability to prioritise and synthesise information in complex English from a range of less familiar extended sources.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  1. distinguish and determine the main ideas of a range of complex English spoken texts on abstract topics for professional or academic contexts
  2. speak with fluency and precision in complex English to communicate information and ideas in extended discourse on a range of less familiar topics in professional or academic contexts
  3. choose, prioritise and summarise information across a range of texts written in complex English for a specific purpose for professional or academic contexts
  4. compile written text with information and arguments, synthesised from a range of sources in complex English, to justify a considered conclusion in a professional or academic context
