Course Aim

Students will develop skills in using complex English to accurately and efficiently integrate familiar information and ideas into a range of professional or academic texts.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  1. efficiently select and organise the main ideas of extended complex spoken English texts on concrete topics in professional or academic contexts
  2. speak with accuracy and spontaneity in complex English to communicate information and ideas in extended discourse on a range of familiar topics in professional or academic contexts
  3. independently analyse and assess complex extended English written texts on familiar topics for professional or academic contexts
  4. write a range of texts in complex English which develop and support a position appropriate to audience and purpose for professional or academic contexts
