Course Aim

The aim of this course is to provide students with the knowledge of: factors that affect the performance of forestry workers and employment relationships; environmental factors affecting including historical sites and areas of cultural significance to Māori affecting commercial forest harvesting operations; environmental requirements in forestry; and how to work as a team member in forestry operations.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Describe and record nutrition, hydration, personal health and substance use factors that affect the performance of forestry workers.
  2. Identify and explain environmental factors and requirements of forestry operations.
  3. Interpret job descriptions, explain employment relationships and how to carry out work, and communicate effectively as a team member in forestry operations.
