This course will explore the holistic health of the older adult from a physiological, socio-economic, political and cultural view. The students will explore the concept of positive aging, life expectancy and quality of life.
On successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Critically examine the positive life experiences of the older adult in Aotearoa/New Zealand from a holistic viewpoint.
- Investigate factors that influence quality of life for the older adult.
- Analyse government policies related to the older adult in New Zealand and compare with an international perspective.
- Compare and contrast current statistical data around life expectancy for the older adult in Aotearoa/New Zealand with international data.
