Course Aim

This is an introduction to the principles of research. Develop the knowledge and skills of purposeful reading, critique and use of research for professional nursing in practice.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Analyse the components of the research process.
  2. Examine ethical and legal aspects of research.
  3. Investigate and discuss kaupapa Māori research and its contribution to nursing practice in Aotearoa New Zealand.
  4. Critically examine the different research methodologies/methods, and their application to evidence based nursing practice.
