Course Aim

Discover key concepts of; human development through the lifespan; human psychology; and human behaviour as they relate to nursing practice. This course provides students with the opportunity to view these concepts through an Aotearoa New Zealand and global lens.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Examine developmental theories and processes of human growth and development across the life span in Aotearoa New Zealand.
  2. Analyse developmental tasks and crises that may be encountered by individuals across the lifespan.
  3. Explore key psychological concepts and theories, including Māori perspectives of psychology, and the relationship these have to health, and nursing practice.
  4. Investigate factors that influence individual and behaviour in relationship to culture and diversity in Aotearoa New Zealand.
