Course Aim

This course aims to equip students with advanced study skills and strategies to enhance success in study at diploma and degree level.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate strategies for coping with study at the tertiary level by identifying their preferred learning styles, setting goals and using time management and personal organisation skills
  2. Use a variety of reading skills to comprehend written material for effective study outcomes
  3. Demonstrate effective note-making/taking techniques as required at diploma and degree level
  4. Use mind-mapping techniques to aid comprehension, assignment planning, learning and memorising
  5. Demonstrate competence with using the library learning centre resources
  6. Demonstrate oral presentation skills to an audience using a PowerPoint presentation as a visual aid
