Course Aim

Learn how to draft basic pattern blocks for women’s outerwear. Apply pattern manipulation techniques to create a range of garment designs and features, and develop the skills and knowledge to determine an appropriate garment fit.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  1. accurately perform basic calculations and take measurements to create garment pattern blocks;
  2. demonstrate and apply knowledge of pattern drafting terminology, equipment and techniques;
  3. produce basic pattern blocks for women’s outerwear; and
  4. manipulate pattern blocks to create garment designs and features.
