Course Aim

The aim of this course is to develop students who will understand the dimensions of tertiary teaching and apply teaching skills in a supervised context.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this course, you will be able to:
  1. describe adult learning principles of teaching and learning and apply them in an educational context;
  2. write learning outcomes and lesson plans;
  3. demonstrate responsiveness to Maori learning needs;
  4. demonstrate an understanding of the relationship between learning outcomes and assessment;
  5. demonstrate solutions to issues relating to communicating with students in the classroom environment;
  6. demonstrate an awareness of the issues of bi-culturalism in the classroom; and
  7. reflect on own learning and teaching and plan for change
