Programme aim

Gain retail and customer service skills and knowledge to work in entry level positions across a range of organisations in the retail sector. Develop standards of professional practice for retail and customer service, including communication and selling skills. Also develop product knowledge relevant to an area of interest or employment, including the opportunity for students to select courses that focus on developing in-depth knowledge for fashion and apparel retail and garden centres.

Graduates will have the skills, knowledge and attributes to be able to:

  • apply health, safety and security practices to ensure own safety and minimise potential hazards for customers and co-workers in a retail environment.
  • follow standard operating procedures to deal with familiar problems in a retail environment.
  • use communication skills and techniques and organisational practices to influence customers and meet business needs in a retail environment.
  • apply knowledge of products and inventory to retail interactions.
