Department of Computing & Communications

Our department focuses on two major subject areas:

  1. Computing and information technology
  2. Communications.

Computing and information technology

From levels three to nine, we take our computing and information technology students from basic skills in using computers and various software applications, through to our Bachelor of Computing, Communications and Technology. This degree has five distinct majors:

  • Computing Technical
  • Multimedia/Web
  • Game Development and Animation
  • Systems Design
  • Communication for Technology

There is also an IT strand in the new Masters of Management.


We offer qualifications in communications from levels three to eight, including the Diploma in Applied Technology, Applied Writing and Mass Communications. We are currently developing a Diploma in Media Studies with strands in Event Management, Journalism and Radio and TV production.

There is a great deal of synergy between the two subject areas and the vocational opportunities for graduates is both varied in topics studied and level, from front line technical staff to senior managers. We have a great team of lecturers and support staff many who have great academic credentials, or immense industry experience and networks.
