When tourism is your dream industry, nothing beats studying at Waiariki in Rotorua, one of New Zealand’s ‘must see’ destinations. This thought led Candice Gong to enrol upon our Bachelor of Tourism Management. Already working within the city's hospitality industry she is well on her way to reaching her dreams.
“I love Waiariki,” Candice says smiling.
With the traditional maori pohiri / welcome all students receive a highlight, she says Waiariki’s campus life prepare her for the multicultural aspect of the modern tourism industry. “Class is always interesting because we come from different backgrounds and cultures. Other students come up with an awesome ideas that you’ve never thought of before.”
With loneliness never a factor due to the fact that other students from the Nanjing Institute of Tourism & Hospitality were already enjoying Waiariki’s qualifications, Candice thanks the international team and learning advisors at Waiariki for making her feel even further at home as she adapted to study in New Zealand.
“Rotorua is a quiet city, with plenty of opportunities to get to know the locals, their food, culture and lifestyle. I have more chances to practise my English, but if you still need help with your English skills, you can study the language at Waiariki too.”
“I met warm and friendly staff and tutors at Waiariki," she concludes. "They always welcome you and are willing to help you when you run into difficulties.”
