29 Apr 2014

Last weekend, the NZXC Racing team competed in the UCI Mountainbike World Cup in Cairns, Australia. On a course providing plenty of crashes, here are the results of the races from the Waiariki student based team, giving it their all:

Amber Johnston was first up in the U23 Womens and finished in 8th place.

The Womens Elite saw Kate Fluker land in 17th position – her best World Cup race ranking yet. Her teammate Katie O'Neill, battled through recent injuries to finish in 25th.

The Elite Mens was Dirk Peter’s first elite World Cup race, and marred by a repair stint in the tech zone, he finished 39th. At his side, fellow NZXC rider Carl Jones’ awesome top 20 spot after the first lap, saw him hold on to finish in spot number 31.

Next stop racing in Austria, Europe on May 3rd!
