Rugby Minded Students Find Futures In Sports Qualification

14 May 2014

Waiariki's new sport qualifications are proving a hit with next generation athletes, looking to cement their professional careers. Stealing a few of the rugby and league focussed students aside, we asked how the course was holding up so far?

Scott Blake Evans (above right) "Yeah, it's pretty cool. I’m learning new stuff every day. Nutrition has been the best part. I’ve learnt a lot on nutrition and what we are meant to take in. Hopefully in the future I can apply all this knowledge that I’ve got and better myself in sports – rugby league - get to a top level, coach or become a P.E. teacher."

Manaaki O’Brien (above left) "I enrolled pretty much due to my interest in sports. It’s where I want to end up and it is what I enjoy doing. Rugby, rugby league - I’m just trying to get better at both, get my skills up and experience it, so I know what I‘m talking about when I finish, play or coach.

I’d recommend coming to Waiariki for anyone who is passionate about sports. There’s a certificate here, it’s just a year and that would give you a good gage on whether you’ll enjoy it or not and whether you’re on the right track. Then you’ve got the Diploma so you can further build on that.”

To follow Manaaki's advice and enrol on either the Certificate in Applied Sport and Exercise Studies (Sport Management and Coaching), or the Diploma in Applied Sport and Exercise Leadership (Sport Management and Coaching), call Waiariki on 0800 924 274 today.
