Course Aim

The aim of this course is to provide students with the skills and knowledge to diagnose and test for faults in automotive electrical and ignition systems.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Describe automotive ignition systems and their operation.
  2. Diagnose and rectify faults in an ignition system.
  3. Understand the theoretical concepts of protecting vehicle electronics in the motor industry.
  4. Demonstrate knowledge of testing automotive electrical circuits.
  5. Demonstrate knowledge of automotive batteries.
  6. Service an automotive battery.
  7. Select test equipment and test an automotive electrical circuit.
