Course Aim

The aim of this course is to provide students with the skills and knowledge required to understand and apply a range of theoretical and practical carpentry skills to install roof cladding systems in a safe and professional manner.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Investigate and compare the types of roof cladding systems, durability, NZS:3604 requirements for penetrations, flashings and the use of sealants.
  2. Outline the health and safety aspects of working at height.
  3. Read and interpret plans, working drawings and specifications to calculate quantities and costs, and prepare an order for a range of roof claddings.
  4. Install roof cladding to eaves and verges in accordance with plans and specifications.
