Course Aim

The aim of this course is to provide students with an understanding of general mathematical principles and equip them with basic mathematical skills needed for subsequent courses in the Bachelor of Computing, Communications and Technology.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  1. manipulate and solve basic algebraic expressions and equations;
  2. manipulate and solve linear and quadratic equations;
  3. perform conversion of numbers between different number systems;
  4. manipulate matrices to solve simultaneous equations and use matrices to represent 2D graphs;
  5. Use logic principles, symbols and terms to develop and represent logic statements;
