Do you have a degree in any field or a diploma in teaching (primary or secondary) but need a career change?
Do you want to work with children?
Complete a master’s in early childhood education in only 1 year!
These two qualifications are the only initial teacher education masters leading to teacher registration in the North Island.
With a strong focus on language, identity and culture, these qualifications equip graduates to teach children during the most important period of their lives.
Theory and practice are integrated with a mixture of on campus teaching, online learning and substantial placements in early childhood centres. Supportive, highly-qualified staff teach on each programme and trained mentor teachers support learning in your placements in early childhood centres.
- On-campus teaching mainly one day per week, with some block courses
- Placements outside Rotorua are considered
- Part-time study options available
- An undergraduate degree in any area (or a diploma in teaching (primary or secondary)) is a prerequisite to enrol in these qualifications
For the Master of Teaching Early Childhood Education (Bilingual), fluency in te reo Māori is required to enrol. Graduates of this qualification will also be able to work in bilingual settings.
