The students will examine governance structures, policy, legislation and fiscal influences on health care services in Aotearoa/New Zealand. Students will critique specific Ministry of Health strategies, guidelines and initiatives that impact on individual groups within society.
On successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Analyse the Aotearoa/New Zealand health governance structure and the provider/funder arm in view of health outcomes for yourself and your family/whanau.
- Critically examine the role of central government in determining policies and legislation that influence health care outcomes for the community.
- Analyse health strategies, guidelines and initiatives that impact on individual groups within Aotearoa /New Zealand.
