Course Aim

This course will build on the skills acquired in TREO.4003 and enable the student to further develop listening, reading, oral and literacy skills in Te Reo Maori at a beginner's level.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  1. pronounce Te Reo Māori with increasing accuracy confidently, correctly and clearly;
  2. construct grammatically correct sentences with increasing complexity in Te Reo Māori;
  3. complete basic translations with increasing complexity from English to Māori and Māori to English;
  4. understand and translate more complex main themes of a narrative related in the Māori language; and
  5. write sentences in Māori with increasing complexity on specific topics.
