The aim of this course is for students to examine advancing professional nursing practice concepts of management, leadership and ethical decision making. Through the analysis of health care strategies and quality health care outcomes students will build a political view for nursing practice. Finally, students will evaluate their own practice through the compilation of evidence aligned with NCNZ competencies (2012).
On successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Analyse effective management and leadership strategies for clinical nursing practice.
- Critically analyse the process of ethical decision making for nursing practice.
- Use research to appraise and debate current strategies of quality care delivery, including clinical governance, in the changing health environment in Aotearoa New Zealand
- Evaluate personal attainment of NCNZ competencies, providing evidence that reflects scientific and research-based knowledge, and application of this knowledge to nursing practice.
